Faculty PositionsLecturerThe Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego invites applications for a position of Lecturer with Potential for Security of Employment in Earth Science. We seek a motivated, broad-thinking individual with the appropriate expertise to teach undergraduate courses in our Earth Science curriculum (see http://sioundergrad.ucsd.edu/curriculum/curriculum_overview.php) Successful candidates will be expected to teach six undergraduate courses per year (one quarter each), and to perform service at the university and/or national levels. The position requires a PhD and strong evidence for excellent teaching. Review of applications will begin on September 8, 2008 and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should send a letter including 1) a detailed description of their teaching experience, 2) Syllabi and course descriptions for at least two classes, 3) a list of at least six classes that he or she is prepared to teach.
