Hold your special event in our historic cottage under lush cypress trees on the century-old Scripps Institution of Oceanography campus, overlooking La Jolla's beautiful coastline.

Originally built in 1916, the Martin Johnson House has been remodeled for event use but retains its rustic charm. The cottage and grounds are ideal for events of 15-150 people, from board meetings to wedding receptions.

• Room for the existing large conference table or up to seven round dining tables or an open layout for larger, stand-up receptions
• Small kitchenette with refrigerator, sink, counters, and microwave, partitioned off from main space
• ADA-equipped, unisex bathrooms with outdoor entrance

• Two large, multi-level decks with electrical outlets
• Small surrounding grassy area
• Shade from tall cypress trees
• Stunning views of the ocean, La Jolla Cove, and the Scripps Pier

Parking

Lots can be reserved (weekends only). Contact Special Events Parking at 858-534-0274. Disabled parking and access to buildings is available.

Directions

FROM THE NORTH:

• South on 5, off at LA JOLLA VILLAGE DR, go RIGHT
• Go to signal, LA JOLLA SHORES DR. Turn LEFT
• Wind down LJ SHORES DR
• Turn RIGHT at NAGA WAY (Sharp turn! Look for Scripps sign)
• Where road forks, take to the RIGHT.
• Drive up the road until you come to three small white cottages on the left. Look for the Martin Johnson House. Follow signs to park.

FROM THE SOUTH:

• North on 5, off at LA JOLLA PARKWAY
• Go to signal, LA JOLLA SHORES DR. Turn RIGHT
• Turn LEFT at NAGA WAY (Sharp turn! Look for Scripps sign)
• Where road forks, take to the RIGHT
• Where road forks, take to the RIGHT
• Drive up the road until you come to three small white cottages on the left. Look for the Martin Johnson House. Follow signs to park.

PLEASE NOTE: Although Scripps Institution of Oceanography scientists study the climate, they cannot control the weather. The Martin Johnson House is located on an active university campus with public beaches nearby. Since it is not a private hotel/event property, Scripps cannot guarantee complete quiet and privacy.
